About the test

The ELC-B focuses on professional English: workplace vocabulary, formal correspondence, business grammar and your ability to understand texts you’d realistically encounter in a corporate setting. Your final score reflects your proficiency on a six-level scale, modeled on the structure of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The CEFR is the most widely used framework for describing language ability across Europe and beyond. It organizes proficiency into six progressive stages — A1 and A2 (basic user), B1 and B2 (independent user) and C1 and C2 (proficient user) — covering the full path from your first words to near-native fluency. Many language exams worldwide use this scale to communicate results in a way learners and employers can easily understand.
