Every organisation that has ever failed was once successful. The ones that survive long-term are not the most efficient — they are the most innovative.
About this course
Innovation is not a department. It is not a brainstorming session. And it is definitely not a ping-pong table. It is a management discipline — with frameworks, processes, tools and metrics — that can be learned, structured and embedded into any organisation.
This course covers the full spectrum of innovation management: from the theoretical foundations that explain why successful companies get disrupted, to the practical tools that help organisations generate, develop and commercialise new ideas. You will work through Christensen’s Innovator’s Dilemma, the Three Horizons of Growth, the Lean Startup methodology, Open vs. Closed Innovation and the Technology Adoption Lifecycle — finishing with a module on how to measure innovation capability and build the conditions that make it repeatable.
Innovation that happens by accident is not a competitive advantage. This course shows you how to make it systematic.
Skills you will learn
- Recognise the warning signs of disruption before they become existential — and understand why the Innovator’s Dilemma catches organisations that are doing everything right
- Balance today’s performance with tomorrow’s growth using the Three Horizons framework — without sacrificing one for the other
- Map your organisation’s innovation approach using the Innovation Matrix — and identify which types of innovation you are over-investing in and which you are ignoring
- Apply the Build-Measure-Learn cycle to any innovation challenge — reducing waste, accelerating learning and avoiding the trap of building what nobody wants
- Choose between Open and Closed Innovation strategically — knowing when to look inside and when the best ideas are already out there waiting to be found
- Measure innovation honestly — using audits and metrics that reveal where your organisation’s innovation capability is strong and where it quietly breaks down
